This course is an 10 day abstinence based course.  It is recommended that for 10 days you stop drinking, clear your head, have a look at your life, reflect on what you want, where you going, what your drinking has cost you, what your options are and then make a decision about your future level of drinking.

Take the 30 day challenge.  This challenge is to establish 30 consecutive days without drinking alcohol.  If you drink alcohol on any one of these days then you start again until you achieve 30 days without drinking alcohol.

Achieving 30 alcohol free days will allow you to break the cycle of alcohol dependence.   If you are alcohol dependent then your brain has learned to use alcohol to help you cope with life.   MMM for alcohol dependence is not about cutting down, or drinking only on certain occasions, such as the week-end.  It is about breaking your dependence on alcohol.  If you do not feed your brain alcohol to help you cope with life, if you do not feed your brain alcohol to help you feel good, if you do not feed your brain to help you when you are feeling bad, if you do not feed your brain when you are socially anxious, and even, if you do not feed your brain to help you fabulous, then your brain will stop calling for alcohol.  You will had to learn other ways to deal with life simply because you are not feeding it alcohol and as you learn different ways of dealing with life, so it will get easier to live without alcohol.  After the 30 day challenge you can decide whether or not you want to try to re-introduce alcohol into your life or whether it is just easy to stay stopped.  Either way, you will have given yourself a good chance to deal with a problem that can devastate lives.

This course is only 10 days but you get repeats as needs be.

RED ALERT:     If you are physically addicted to alcohol, which means that when you go a few hours without drinking you experience withdrawal symptom (racing heart, sweating, tremors, agitation and can also include more serious symptoms such as confusion, hallucinations and delusions), then you need to get medical help during the withdrawal process.  See your doctor or a drug and alcohol worker to discuss whether you can detox from home or would be best to go into  a residential detoxification centre.   (If you do need to go into a detox, start your course after you have detoxed).

This is an intensive 10 course in using mind management to take charge of your drinking.  It is about increasing your awareness of how your mind works and putting into practice cognitive and emotional regulation so that you use your mind to better enable rather than disable your life. The MMM Course for alcohol dependence

First up, you will do a detailed psychological assessment to assess your levels of depression, anxiety, level of alcohol dependence as well as the historical and psycho-social aspects of your life.

Attend an individual session with a psychologist.  This can be done face-to-face, by video or by phone.

Do the online programme which involves planning your day, avoiding impulses and roadblocks as best as you can and then reporting back how you went.

After two weeks, attend another individual session with your psychologist.

Repeat as necessary.
