The east coast Phuket beach resorts have better views, possibly because the west coast views are often just water (Andaman sea), whereas the east coast views include islands and Cape Panwa. Phi can get quite crowded, especially near the ferry terminal. Ko Lanta is much more relaxed and will probably suit your needs better.
